NFL Star Attends Father-Daughter Dance With Girl Who Recently Lost Her Father and Grandfather

NFL star Anthony Harris stepped in to show immeasurable kindness to 11-year-old Audrey Soape. Audrey’s father and grandfather both died last year.
The Philadelphia Eagles safety flew to Texas to take Soape to her school’s father-daughter dance. Harris also bought her shoes and a dress for the occasion.
“Special night as our founder @antharris surprised and escorted this young lady to her daddy/daughter dance,” the Anthony Harris Foundation announced on Instagram.
Audrey’s mother and longtime fan of Harris, Holly, reached out to the 30-year-old athlete about the idea weeks ahead of the dance.
“After the sudden and heartbreaking loss of her father in March of 2021, followed five weeks later by the passing of her grandfather, my beautiful Audrey struggled to cope,” Holly wrote in an Instagram post. “Knowing this Daddy/Daughter dance at @thefellowshipch was coming up, I knew I wanted to do something incredible to make it special for her.”
“I was like preparing myself all week, because it was going to be fun, but I was super nervous,” Audrey said. “I didn’t know what to say.”
However, Holly and Audrey said that Harris’ kindness proved to make the evening a “fairy tale” and a dream come true.
“All of it was just a fairy tale and amazing,” Holly said.
In an interview after the dance, Harris said that Audrey and her family had previously reached out to him over the years, offering to pray for their favorite NFL player.
“You’ve got to cherish these moments. You never know how long we have here on this earth,” Harris said. “The people that you care about and the people you love, show support for them.”
