NFL Star Terry Bradshaw: ‘My Strength Comes From My Faith’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Throughout Terry Bradshaw’s life, and especially now at age 74, the NFL legend depends on Christ to find strength.
“I was raised in the church, and I have always leaned on that,” Bradshaw said in a recent interview with AARP. “My strength comes from my faith.”
“I’m kind of a fearless guy—to a fault,” he continued.
Bradshaw received two separate cancer diagnoses in the same year, but they didn’t shake his faith. He shared that he only had any anxiety about his health issues during appointments to see if any cancer had returned.
“To two bouts with cancer, I never thought I was gonna die. Never crossed my mind.” He emphatically repeated, “Never crossed my mind. Wasn’t even nervous.”
“I like the experience of getting older, wiser, knowledge[able]. It is a good feeling. I don’t fight it or resist it. I’m looking forward to today, tomorrow and the next day,” Bradshaw said. “My faith has gotten stronger as I’ve gotten older, and faith has kept me grounded.”
“Everything that I’ve done, everything that I do, is to this day, all major decisions are all through prayer,” Bradshaw said in a separate interview.

NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw recently shared that he has battled cancer twice this year — and won…
‘A lot of people are asking what’s wrong with me, what’s happened to me physically. I just want to address it and let you know what has happened in my life,’ Bradshaw started…
In November, I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. I went to the Yale University Medical Center – surgery, treatment. As of today, I am bladder-cancer free. That’s the good news. Then in March, feeling good. I had a bad neck. I get an MRI. Now we find a tumor in my left neck. And it’s a Merkel cell tumor, which is a rare form of skin cancer. So I had that surgery done at M.D. Anderson in Houston. Folks, I may not look like my old self, but I feel like my old self. I’m cancer free, I’m feeling great. And over time, I’m going to be back to where I normally am.’
Movieguide also reported on Bradshaw’s attitude toward his cancer: “‘As a man of faith, as a Christian, my attitude was, ‘Well, if I go, I’m OK. If I stay, I’m OK,’” Bradshaw said.
