Ohio State Football Player Celebrates ’22 Years of Life’ With God

Ohio State wide receiver, Emeka Egbuka, celebrated his birthday last week and instead of making it about himself, he turned to the Lord with gratitude.
Egbuka posted on his social media a series of photos of him worshipping God through prayer and football.
Then he captioned the post with a heartfelt prayer.
“Dear Father, 22 years of life and you have been walking with me every step of the way,” Egbuka wrote. “Thank you for remaining faithful to me when I was not faithful to you. Thank you for the blessings and opportunities you have presented me with. I pray that this new year of life would lead to deeper fellowship with you Lord, and a new level of intimacy in the secret place. Increase my wisdom, strength, and humility as I continue to seek you. Allow me to use my platform to speak the truth and draw others nearer to you. I pray that you shower the person reading this right now in your love. Thank you, Lord. Amen.”
Egbuka has taken on the responsibility as a caption to not only lead his teammates to be the best on the field but to point them to Christ off of it as well.
“Really what I view my responsibility as captain and just as person is to push everybody closer to Christ and by doing that I try to walk as close to Christ as I can myself,” Egbuka said prior to Ohio State’s first game this season. “Kind of be that example, be that guy for people to look up and I think all the basic principles that are found in the bible, and trying to pursue Christ will naturally make you a better leader, better person, better football player, in a sense. So I just try my best to emulate him.”
Movieguide® also reported on Egbuka’s impact at Ohio State while at a baptism event:
“Over the last couple years we’ve really seen the Lord start a revival on our team,” Egbuka said in a post sharedby Christhlete.
Beyond just their team, though, the athletes are sharing their faith with fellow students. A recent event saw nearly 60 students baptized.
“The world didn’t give me this joy, the world can’t take it away. I had this new feeling in my heart that the Holy Spirit implanted into me,” Egbuka shared at the event. “And so since then, it was really a radical change for me. I started walking more obediently with God. I started seeking Him day after day. He’s worked on me, and I’ve had this grace of people in my life to get to this point.”
