Olympian Shawn Johnson Launches Project To Help Parents Find Baby Formula
By Movieguide® Staff
Olympian Shawn Johnson has launched a new initiative to help struggling families find baby formula as a shortage leaves shelves across the country bare.
Johnson and her husband, Andrew East, started the Baby Formula Exchange, a website connecting people who need baby formula with others who have it.
On the site, you can select “Have Formula” or “Need Formula,” then answer a series of questions to match people up, like “what brand and type of formula do you have/are looking for?”
Johnson and East launched the website for a very personal reason. The parents are among many who are struggling to find formula for their child, 10 month-old son Jett.
“So last week I was trying to refill Jett’s formula,” Johnson said in an Instagram video. “And, I wasn’t able to find it anywhere.”
“A friend of a friend actually connected me to her friend in Pittsburg who was able to find and ship it to me,” she continued. “In case you haven’t heard, there’s a nationwide baby formula shortage.
“Which got us thinking,” Johnson said. “Is there a way we can actually connect all of you to other mamas who have formula? So we created the Baby Formula Exchange to create a place for those people who have extra formula to match with those people who need formula.”
Parents in need of formula or who have a surplus can sign up for Baby Formula Exchange here.
