Original Cast Members of MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS Reunite in New Netflix Series

By Movieguide® Contributor

Thirty years after they became a beloved television phenomenon, Netflix announced a reunion for some of the stars of the original MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS in a new series.

EW’s Patrick Gomez, along with providing exclusive content regarding the revival series, revealed the exuberance of original cast members at such an exciting reunion.

Once a Ranger, always a Ranger. Three decades after becoming an afternoon phenomenon, members of the original MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS cast will reunite for a scripted Netflix special celebrating the enduring legacy of Haim Saban’s creation.

“Our Ranger family runs deep,” Walter Emanuel Jones tells EW of getting to play Zack, the Black Ranger, 30 years later.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always stars Jones, David Yost (original Blue Ranger Billy), Catherine Sutherland (who became the second Pink Ranger, Kat, in season 3), as well as Steve Cardenas, Karan Ashley, and Johnny Yong Bosch (who joined the show in season 2 as the second Red Ranger, Rocky, Yellow Ranger, Aisha, and Black Ranger, Adam, respectively)….

For Yost — the longest-running original Ranger, who left the series in 1996 after four seasons and more than 200 episodes — the special is a reunion with all of the returning cast. But he says suiting up with Jones again is particularly special. “We went through the audition process together and launched the Power Rangers franchise,” Yost explains of his costar, who himself calls their reunion “amazing. It was such a surreal experience to be on the set of Power Rangers again after 28 years.”

Though the series will for some be bittersweet in light of such recent tragedies—the death of Jason David Frank (the original Green Ranger, Tommy) last year—in an age of nostalgia such as ours, this series is likely to draw a substantial crowd.

Frank was vocal about his faith. As Movieguide® reported:

Dylan Novak, known as the Celebrity Evangelist, wrote about his experience meeting Frank.

“My heart hurts for Jason David Frank, his friends, and his family,” he shared. “I met Jason in Orlando 3 years ago. It was a chance encounter. He was in town for MegaCon, but I hadn’t met him.”

He continued, “I knew he was a born again Christian, so there was no urgency to get over to his table. After the convention, I was walking by a hotel where his SUV was pulling up. I walked over and introduced myself.

“I shared my ministry with him and gave him a prayer card. We had a nice conversation about the importance of sharing the Gospel, and I thanked him for being a bold witness for Christ,” Novak went on. “I also loved how the light of Christ was shown through him with how he treated fans. All of the posts you are reading about the kindness he showed his fans is 100% true. I walked by Jason many times at various events, and I always saw him going out of his way to make everyone who came up to him smile and have a priceless memory.”

He concluded his post with, “I’m thankful that Jason knew Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior.”

Please pray that Frank’s Christian faith impacted his co-stars.
