How Orioles Shortstop Jackson Holliday Glorifies God Through Career
By Movieguide® Contributor
For Baltimore Orioles shortstop Jackson Holliday, faith comes before baseball.
In a 2022 appearance on the “Sports Spectrum Podcast,” he discussed where his faith came from and when it became important to him.
“I’d say just the past—maybe last summer and definitely this summer—it’s been more important for me because…I was on my own recently,” Holliday said. “Traveling in the summer, I mean, it gets a little lonely, and you always have God. He’s always right there with you, so it’s been more important than it was kind of growing up.”
When asked what he is most grateful for, he didn’t hesitate to say God’s favor.
“I’d say just, Jesus died on the cross for our sins because we’re obviously not perfect, and we sin a lot,” the athlete said. “For Him to love us so much, for Him to send his only Son to die for us, I am forever grateful for that.”

Despite his young age—he’s only 20—Holliday has become a mature believer in Christ and continues to grow each day.
He and his wife, Chloe, recently went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic.
“Romans 15:13, I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit,” the couple wrote in an Instagram post.
“Seeing these sweet people live out this verse has been so impactful! The joy that they have is unmatched! And the love the boys have for baseball is incredible and their talent puts a smile on your face! Jax and I are so grateful to have gone on this trip with,” the two continued.
“Jackson Holliday was selected first overall in the 2022 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles, coming right out of Stillwater (Oklahoma) High School. He finished his senior year batting .685 with 17 home runs, 79 RBIs and 30 stolen bases over 40 games. He was named Oklahoma’s Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year and was also awarded an American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Gold Glove,” Sports Spectrum reported.
