PASSION OF THE CHRIST, THE CHOSEN Arrive on Fox Nation for Easter
By Movieguide® Contributor
FOX Nation will platform faith-based programs for the upcoming Easter season.
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST landed on the platform on March 8, and THE CHOSEN, Seasons 1-3, arrived on March 10.
“Directed by Mel Gibson, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST is a 2004 film about the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth (Jim Caviezel),” Deadline reported. “The film opens in the Garden of Olives (Gethsemane) where Jesus has gone to pray after the Last Supper. Jesus resists Satan’s temptations. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, Jesus is arrested and taken back to within the city walls of Jerusalem where the leaders of the Pharisees confront him with accusations of blasphemy and his trial results in a condemnation to death.”
Part of Movieguide®’s review reads:
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST is a must-see movie, beautifully directed, powerfully acted, and with terrific sound. Filmed in Latin and Aramaic, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST has a foreign sensibility. The violence and the glee of the Romans who were scourging Jesus highlight the demonic quality of the battle Jesus was fighting. Those who see it will understand, perhaps for the first time, the price that Jesus paid to forgive us our sins. This is real grace, not cheap grace.
Movieguide®’s Dr. Baehr previously commented on how this movie led many people to turn away from sin and follow Jesus.
“Dr. Ted Baehr asserts in his book How to Succeed in Hollywood (Without Losing Your Soul), ‘THE PASSION convinced millions of people to repent,’” per Movieguide®.
The film will be available on the platform through Easter.
THE CHOSEN will be available until April 21. It’s a viewer-funded series created and directed by Dallas Jenkins that focuses on the life and ministry of Jesus.
Movieguide® said, “Each episode of THE CHOSEN brings the times and places where Jesus lived, walked, and worked to life in a never-before-seen way. Through the eyes of those who followed him, Jesus’ story comes alive with drama, humor, insight, and inspiration.”
Fox plans to add more content based on the Easter programs.
Deadline said, “Fox Nation will also be hosting a roundtable discussion to dissect both programs, led by Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt. Details on guests for the roundtable are coming soon.”
