Pat Boone Shares Why Movieguide® Is So Important for Hollywood

Legendary actor Pat Boone explained why he supports Movieguide® and how the Movieguide® Awards shine a light on projects that are fighting for the soul of both Hollywood and our nation.
“I think that Movieguide® is like a vaccine for a diseased industry. Really, there’s a lot of sickness going on in the entertainment field, and Ted Baehr with Movieguide® has got the answer, he’s got the cure. If you want to make money in the movie business, make family films, make faith-friendly films, and they make money. Plus, they’re good for our nation,” Pat Boone told Movieguide® while on the red carpet for the Movieguide® Awards.
“I want Movieguide® to keep doing what Movieguide® has been doing, which is recognizing the creativity that people are capable of and that [entertainment] can be elevating and not just money making, not just box office smashes that may be bad for the country, bad for young people, and bad for families,” Boone added. “I just think it’s something that must be supported. If we don’t support it, we’re going to get the result.”

Boone has followed this principle throughout his life and career in Hollywood, focusing on making uplifting, edifying content, and allowing the profits to worry about themselves. Doing so has made him a household name for decades as he has enjoyed a prolific acting career.
“I’ve never done anything that wasn’t G-rated that I can remember. And so really my career has sort of fallen on me, I just go through doors as they open to opportunity,” Boone explained. “And if I can do it honorably, I say great. If it’s going to help somebody, even better. And if it’s something that will elevate the consciousness and the morality of our country, that’s what I’m for. And it’s not always the most commercial, but it usually turns out to be profitable.”
Boone and many more of the industry’s top stars can be caught at this year’s Movieguide® Awards, hosted by Mario Lopez. The gala will air on the Great American Family Network on March 6, with streaming available on Pure Flix starting the following day.
