Why This Actress Left Secular Career to Create Faith-Filled Content
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actress Patricia Heaton recently explained why she stepped away from making secular movies to create faith-filled content like her latest project, THE UNBREAKABLE BOY.
“When you give everything over to God, He gives it back to you in a way you could never have imagined,” Heaton told CBN. “I feel like God gave me certain gifts and so it’s my responsibility to honor Him in the work.”
THE UNBREAKABLE BOY is produced by the Kingdom Story Company, the same studio that created JESUS REVOLUTION and THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER.
Its official logline reads:
When his parents, Scott (Zachary Levi) and Teresa (Meghann Fahy), learn that Austin is both autistic and has brittle bone disease, they initially worry for their son’s future. But with Scott’s growing faith and Austin’s incredible spirit, they become “unbreakable,” finding joy, gratitude, and courage even in the most trying times — an extraordinary true story about a father and son learning together that every day can be the best day of your life!
“The story is wonderful and it’s a true story,” Heaton explained. “And it’s a story about a struggle that many families experience today — a child on the spectrum or even just if your kid has learning differences.”

“You see a story where the struggles are not sugarcoated, but it’s hopeful and redemptive at the end,” she added.
The cast and crew recently reunited for the film’s premiere in New York. Lead actor Zachary Levi shared the news on his social media.
“What a joy getting to finally celebrate #unbreakableboy with our NY premiere tonight! It was fantastic to reunite with these amazing cast + filmmakers and I’m so excited to finally get to share this project I am so proud of with all of you! FRIDAY!” the actor wrote.
Movieguide® praised its very strong Christian worldview:
THE UNBREAKABLE BOY is a heartwarming true story with a wonderful script and excellent performances. The movie has a strong Christian, uplifting worldview. It stresses family, kindness, faith, forgiveness, prayer, attending church, and redemption. However, there are many scenes involving alcohol abuse because the father struggles with stress and alcohol. UNBREAKABLE BOY also has some light foul language and a brief violent scene. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children.
