Hillis wrote in a recent Twitter post, “I did want to come on here and show my appreciation for everyone who helped save my life and for all of your prayers and love and support. I left the hospital with no worries and concerns and should make a 100% recovery.”

Hills reportedly suffered injuries after jumping into the ocean to save children from drowning off the coast of Pensacola, Florida on Jan 5.

The sports world again asked for prayers for Hills: “While in some areas he has made minor improvements… prayers were asked for as some additional issues with his kidneys is cause for concern,” KNWA Arkansas reportedof the 36-year-old former Cleveland Browns star. “He is battling and definitely needs as many prayers as he can get.”

Hillis is now recovering and thanked people for their prayers, saying they “made all the difference.”

“I also want to thank my brave sister, mother, sister-in-law, my kids, and my girlfriend who has saved my life in more ways than one,” he continued. “Thank you to the amazing staff at the hospital, Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. Y’all were truly amazing and took such great care of me. You made all the difference in my recovery.”
