Phil Wickham Shares Gospel In Heartfelt Instagram Thread: ‘I Believe Because’

Singer Phil Wickham launched an Instagram thread on Thursday with the prompt, “Why do you believe in Jesus? Let me know in the comments.”
The results left him feeling blessed and encouraged.
“I’ll start,” Wickham kicked off the thread. “I believe because I know I’m a sinner in need of a Savior, and I believe that even before I asked for it Jesus died to pay the price for my guilt so I can live in His freedom and victory. Over and over again through in countless ways, God has proven to me that His way is the way that leads to life, peace, joy and resurrection.”
“The more I align myself with the way and teachings of Jesus, the more of that abundant life I experience,” the artist continued. “It’s as if I’m stepping into the life I was always meant to live. Thank you, Jesus, for giving me a reason and a purpose! Your Name and Your glory is the song I will sing forever.”
He finished, “Your turn. Why do you follow Jesus? And if you don’t, then let me introduce Him to you!!”
Wickham’s post set off a chain reaction of comment after comment about belief in God. One user wrote, “I BELIEVE it was a mighty move of the Holy Spirit, through God’s people and sound Bible teachings, which encouraged me to accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior! Jesus Love, Mercy, Grace, and personal encounters made me Believe! ??”
The post reaped over 1,000 similar comments from fellow believers.
Wickham later wrote, “Reading through hundreds of these comments, and just so blessed by you all. Thanks for encouraging me tonight. ????.”
Wickham’s new album, “I Believe,” came out on August 18. It features 14 faith-based tracks and songs with Tiffany Hudson and Naomi Raine. Movieguide® reported on Wickham’s collaboration with the latter:
“I wanted another moment on the album where you hear more than just my voice, and I thought if I could have anyone in the album, it would be Naomi,” he explained.
Without having a specific song, Wickham asked her to join his project. Looking for a time to meet, they realized they both had a free evening in Nashville and set up a recording session. A conversation turned into singing, which led to a song.
“We had no title for it, we didn’t know what we would end up creating, but it became such a song in itself, a holy moment in the studio, we had to call it ‘Holy Moment,’” Wickham said.
The singer said about his album’s title song, “I Believe,” “It’s been so encouraging and such a blessing watching it connect with people. This song is like a shot in the arm of faith for me. I preach to my own soul and heart with it.”
