AMERICAN IDOL Winner Prayed with Judges during her Audition

AMERICAN IDOL crowned season 18’s winner on Sunday, and it was none other than the contestant who prayed with the judges during her audition.
Samantha Diaz, who goes by the stage name Just Sam, included the winner singing worship song “You Say” in a duet with Lauren Daigle herself.
“You Say” was the song Diaz initially used in her audition for the show Movieguide® previously reported.
However, after getting choked up, the AMERICAN IDOL hopeful sang a different song that punched her golden ticket to Hollywood.
Before her duet with Daigle, Diaz told the Christian singer: “‘You Say’ seriously speaks to my heart and I feel like that’s what brought me to tears at my audition.”
When host Ryan Seacrest announced Diaz as the winner, she celebrated with her grandmother, Elizabeth, on Facetime.
Earlier in the show, the singer received spiritual motivation from judge Katy Perry.
“The Lord doesn’t give you more than you can handle,” the judge told her after she performed Kelly Clarkson’s song “Stronger.”
Movieguide® previously reported Diaz’s testimony after her audition.
“Can I pray with you guys? Is that OK? I have a prayer I want to do with you guys,” the now-winner asked the judges. They all joined hands.
She continued, “So repeat after me. Heavenly Father, Lord make my life brand new right here, right now, with my new friends and my new fam.”
Congratulations, Just Sam! Movieguide® hopes you will continue to share your faith and trust the Lord’s plan for your life!
