Will LAST MAN STANDING Return?
By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor
LAST MAN STANDING doesn’t appear on Fox’s 2020-2021 fall lineup, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the show is over.
LAST MAN STANDING ended season 8 early due to COVID-19 with quite the cliffhanger.
TV Guide aptly pointed out, “When we last saw the Baxter clan, Eve (Kaitlyn Dever) had come home, and Tim Allen has hinted that fans will likely see more of her going forward. Kristin (Amanda Fuller) went into labor in the Season 8 finale, leaving the show with the promise of a new baby — and, c’mon, who doesn’t want to see a baby?”
TV Guide continued, “Allen also told TV Guide that Mike and Ryan (Jordan Masterson) would be embracing each other’s point of view a little more in a potential next season, which again suggests that the show is planning for the future. So while nothing has been announced officially yet, it’s safe to assume Last Man Standing will see a Season 9 — but the big question is when.”
When ABC cancelled LAST MAN STANDING, Fox picked up the series as fans rallied to see their favorite characters on screen again. In fact, when the premiere episode of season 6 aired on Fox, 6 million people tuned in.
If LAST MAN STANDING gets the boot once again, perhaps it will continue to find a new home.
“As a media company that prides itself on an entrepreneurial spirit and the focus that comes with doing fewer things better, we mobilized, swiftly creating an entirely new, original-programming lineup for the fall to share with our partners upfront,” Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier told EW.
Some of the lineup for Fox’s fall lineup includes: BOB’S BURGERS, THE MASKED SINGER, FILTHY RICH, THE SIMPSONS and BLESS THE HARTS.
