‘Pray for Me’: Former Victoria’s Secret Model Turned Believer Reveals Cancer Diagnosis

Ex-Victoria’s Secret model Nicole Weider, who gave up her career to follow God, just announced that she has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
“Please pray for me and over me,” Weider asked her followers in an Instagram post on Monday. “I noticed a large lump had grown under my left breast (ignored it for a while) but then, today, as I felt it was enlarged, I knew I needed to see a doctor immediately.”
The mom of two continued, “I thought it would be nothing maybe just a cyst or a piece of fatty tissue under my armpit. The doctor felt it and looked at it and told me it was serious enough to get a CT scan and have the images determined by a radiologist.
“I felt very worried the whole time, but just kept telling myself to trust in God. Only five minutes later, the doctor came back with not good news,” she said.
The doctor found two cancerous lumps and told her she had breast cancer. In an update on Tuesday, Weider let followers know that there are also two cancerous masses in her liver, and because the cancer is in three places, it is stage 4. Weider underwent a biopsy on Tuesday so that the type of cancer can be determined.
“Unfortunately he said when younger people get it it’s usually more aggressive since it’s less common. I’m staying positive, and always trusting God. Thank you for your prayers I feel them,” she said in an update on Tuesday.
She also posted Psalm 23 on her Instagram story, saying, “It’s almost like chapter 1-the war for my body is starting. I feel like I’m walking in a daze of shock. Like I know I have to be mentally strong and happy to people but I just feel like being inside my feelings and being alone. (At least right now) I cry out to God and I’m Scared. Thank you for your kind words, your prayers and your messages.”
Weider keeps a brave face amidst the shock. At the end of her Tuesday video update, she said with a smile, “Please say a prayer for me. I really appreciate it. Your prayers are working.”

“I didn’t grow up in a Christian home. I didn’t really have a concept of who God was, I didn’t have God in my life at all,” she continued. “So I was making my choices based on what I wanted in the world and what I thought was important for myself and I placed my identity in being a model. When I decided I didn’t want that anymore I was kind of left thinking, ‘What am I supposed to do now’”
However, a 23-year-old Weider gave her life to Christ, and the trajectory of her career and purpose changed forever.
“I gave my life to Christ when I was 23, and it was the best decision I ever made,” Weider said. “After I gave my life to God I felt a renewed sense of hope, and I felt like my dignity was back in my heart. I started journaling about my love for God and my experiences in the modeling industry, and pretty soon after I gave my life to God, He put in my heart a desire to create a website for teenage girls to share pieces of my testimony on there and to be a light to girls and to warn them about the dangers of the Hollywood industry and about the modeling industry.”
