Prayer Alert: TOP GEAR’s Freddie Flintoff Crashes On Set, Airlifted to Hospital
By Movieguide® Staff
TOP GEAR host Freddie Flintoff was airlifted to a hospital this week after a crash on set.
“Freddie was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning — with crew medics attending the scene immediately,” a BBC TV spokesperson said. “He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course.”
According to BBC, which airs the show, the incident happened at Top Gear’s test track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surreyon on Tuesday. Though Flintoff’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, the BBC spokesperson will confirm the details “in due course.”
Preliminary reports indicate it was not a high-speed accident.
It is understood that the accident did not happen at high speed.
“Our primary concern is and has been for the welfare of Freddie — as well as the Top Gear team” a spokesperson said Wednesday morning. “All health and safety procedures were followed on site and the incident is now being fully investigated, in line with standard policy and practice.”
According to Variety:
Flintoff was a talismanic cricketer who captained the England men’s cricket team and was instrumental in fashioning several triumphs. After his retirement, he has enjoyed a successful media career, producing a BBC documentary titled “Freddie Flintoff: Hidden Side of Sport” about his and other sports stars’ suffering from clinical depression; being a judge on the ITV talent show “Let’s Get Gold”; winning the first series of the Australian version of “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”; and participating in Sky’s sports-based comedy panel show “A League of Their Own” before taking up a presenter role on the BBC’s hugely successful automobile based magazine show “Top Gear.”
Please pray for Flintoff and the TOP GEAR team.
