‘Prayer Works’: Darryl Strawberry Relies on Faith After Heart Attack

Former Major League Baseball player Darryl Strawberry is grateful for prayers as he recovers from a heart attack he suffered on his 62nd birthday.
Movieguide® reported:
“Praising God for His amazing grace and loving mercy in saving my life this evening from a heart attack. I am so happy and honored to report that all is well,” he shared on Instagram.
He continued, “So thankful for the medical team and staff at St. Joseph West in Lake St. Louis for responding so quickly and bringing me through a stent-procedure that has brought my heart to total restoration!!! Your prayers are so absolutely appreciated as I continue to recover, in Jesus Name!”
Strawberry recently shared an update on his condition.
“During my first doctor’s appointment, my physician delivered some incredibly positive news,” he wrote on Instagram. “He assured both my wife and me that I am growing stronger and progressing in the right direction. His happiness and satisfaction with my overall progress were evident. This uplifting news has filled us with hope and optimism for the future. Thanks to everyone for your kindness and prayers for us!”
Strawberry continued, “It was the most amazing report. The doctor said that I am headed in the right direction. That I am getting stronger, that life is going to be great for us. I just have to continue to do the right things.”
“God will speak loudly when we are listening and we want to thank you for your continued prayers, your love, and your support,” his wife, Tracie, added. “It means so much to us. Words cannot even express [it]. It means everything to us, and prayer works!”
Strawberry’s faith is central to his recovery process.
“My day starts at 4am with a peaceful Bible study, setting the tone for the day ahead,” he wrote last week. “With my defibrillator that’s keeping me strong and reminding me of the precious gift of life. Embracing these blessings, I greet each day with gratitude and hope. Thankful For God’s Grace And Healing.”
The former MLB star frequently uses his platform to point fans to Jesus. In a recent post, he reflected on God’s grace.
“God’s grace is the ultimate gift, freely given to us despite our unworthiness. It is through His grace that we find redemption, forgiveness, and salvation,” he wrote. “His grace has been my anchor, my strength, and my hope. I am forever grateful for His kindness, love, and boundless mercy.”
