Priscilla Presley Responds to Grandson’s Suicide: ‘I Pray It Will Get Better’

By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor

Priscilla Presley is coping with her grandson’s suicide through prayer.

“These are some of the darkest days of my family’s life. The shock of losing Ben has been devastating,” said Presley. “Trying to put all the pieces together of all the possible whys has penetrated my soul. Each day I wake up I pray it will get better.”

Benjamin Keough died on July 27, at 27 years old. News of his death broke the same week as Kelly Preston’s (SKY HIGH) and Naya Rivera’s (GLEE) deaths.

Keough’s mother, Lisa Marie Presley, is the daughter of Elvis and Priscilla.

Presley continued, “Then, I think of my daughter and the pain she is going through as she was a doting mother. Ben’s father, Danny, who is completely lost, as Ben was his only son. Riley, so loving and so close to him; Harper and Finley, who absolutely adored Ben. [My son] Navarone, who struggles deeply with loss and death. Rest In Peace Ben, you were loved. ”

As far as Movieguide® knows, Keough didn’t profess to believe in Jesus.

The Presley family has a legacy of faith, which contributed to some of Elvis’s most popular tunes.

In 2019, Priscilla Presley attended the 28th annual Movieguide® Awards representing ELVIS PRESLEY: THE SEARCHER and spoke about her late husband’s faith background.

“I mean he grew up with gospel music, grew up going to church, and I think that’s something that people have known for a long time, how religious he and his family were. So that really is his roots. Truly,” affirmed Presley.

Please continue to pray for the Presley’s during this time of mourning.
