This Actress Called Out Sadie Robertson Huff, and It Changed Her Life

Actress and speaker Priscilla Shirer called out DUCK DYNASTY star Sadie Robertson Huff on something she did several years ago, and Huff is so grateful to her for it.
On an episode of “WHOA That’s Good” podcast, Huff and Shirer recounted the interaction that happened nine years ago.
“I am in Mexico with my family, and I am 18 years old…my sister’s getting married. I’m posting all these cute pictures, posting selfies, and I’m feeling myself, okay?” Huff began. “Priscilla, to be honest, I’m feeling cute, and I’m posting it, and I get this text, and I see your name pop up on my phone.”
Huff wondered what Shirer could be texting her about. The two had only met one other time at an awards show.
“This was before I was speaking, this is before I was doing any of the ministry that I’m doing now,” Huff explained. “You texted me…you’re like, ‘Hey little sister,’ and then you ‘I just want to say I’m following you on social media, and a couple of the pictures that you’ve been posting I don’t think represent what…you want to display.’”
As Huff recounted this story, Shirer laughed in shock and didn’t seem to remember the incident.
“You go on to share that you felt like they were a little bit, honestly, like they kind of had like a little sexual innuendo, like they were just kind of the provocative the way that I was posing,” Huff explained.
Huff then shared how Shirer’s correction was actually one of the best things anyone has ever done for her.
“I tell this story to people as like one of the most loving and kind things that someone did for me. At the time, that actually made me like truly made me stop and go ‘What am I trying to do, like, what am I trying to show on social media?’” she recalled.
“I was very embarrassed,” Huff added. “I’m a little embarrassed too!” Shirer laughed.
“God used that in so many ways,” Huff noted with gratitude. “That was such a pivotal moment for me because I’m like…this person who I actually genuinely respect and look up to called me out.”
“I actually don’t want people to see me. I want people to see Jesus,” she continued. “So I changed the way I did social media, and here I am nine years later, and my social media has truly made a lot of impact for the kingdom, I really believe that.”
Proverbs 31:30 perfectly describes the realization Huff had. It reads, “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Our beauty comes from not what we can flaunt or show to others but rather from how we point others to God.
Huff is getting ready for the release of her latest book, The Next Step: 50 Devotions to Find Your Way Forward, in November.
“The Next Step was written through the framework of the Bible’s Wisdom Books—Psalms, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Job, and Ecclesiastes,” she said on Instagram. “I hope that this book helps you learn that the word of God can help guide all of your steps.”
Shirer is celebrating the release of the Kendrick Brothers’ THE FORGE, which she starred in.
“My brothers-@thekendrickbrothers – along with the cast and crew of @forgemovie are asking the Lord to glorify Himself through this film and to draw you to Himself!” she posted about the movie, which released Aug. 23.
Movieguide® previously reported on Shirer:
Actress, author and evangelist Priscilla Shirer Shannon Bream’s “Livin’ the Bream” podcast to talk about her new movie, THE FORGE.
“Well, it really is a captivating story. It is a single mother — I’m a single mother of a young man who’s about 19, 20 years old,” Shirer said of why she was drawn to THE FORGE.
Shirer then told Bream that when the Kendrick brothers first called her to play the role of a mom to a 20-year-old, her first thought was, “That is terrible casting. What makes them think I would be able to play a woman who looks like she has a 20-year-old son?”
However, she quickly realized, “Oh, in real life, I actually do have a 20-year-old son, so I probably do look like that,” she added, laughing.
