This Bible Passage Will Give You Strength in Chaotic Times

On Monday, Oct. 7, the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, Sadie Robertson Huff shared Psalm 46 and reminded everyone that though the earth faces much turmoil and uncertainty, God is certain and comfort can be found in him.
“A couple of weeks ago, we were in California with our little family. The four of us woke up around 7:30 a.m. and were lying in bed, giddy about the fun day ahead, when the ground shook beneath us. It felt more like breaking than shaking,” Huff shared with a photo of Psalm 46, which is about God’s strength and refuge amid times of chaos.
“It was only for a couple of seconds, and then it was over. But those couple of seconds have stuck with me…because of how quickly you realize that without warning, everything in life can change. The crazy thing about earthquakes, which I had never experienced, is that you can do nothing to prepare for them,” she said.
She remarked that the earthquake was minor and no one was injured.
“After the earthquake happened and the initial fears wore off, we just moved on with our day as if nothing had happened. Throughout the day, the continual aftershocks reminded us that it very well did happen. We would feel it for a bit, then just move on.”
“One year ago, on October 7th, people woke up excited for the day ahead with many things and celebrations to look forward to. As they went into their day, they could have done nothing to prepare themselves for their whole earth-shaking and breaking. Some of the most horrendous acts of evil, “ she said, referring to Hamas’s attack on Israel–a war that rages on to this day.
Last October, Huff shared that she was “devastated” and “heartbroken” by what happened in Israel.
“Since then the world has not been the same,” Huff said. “The truth is though because it didn’t devastate our every day life like it did for many others we get to just go about life. Thinking about that day as if that day was just a big quake a year ago…maybe every now and then we think about it as we see, hear and even feel at times the after effects of that horrible day. But for many they can’t just carry on their day life.”
She’s right about that — and certainly for those directly affected by the war. On Monday, Hamas sent missiles to Israel again.
All Israel News reported, “Alarm sirens were activated in Tel Aviv and surrounding areas after ballistic missiles were fired at the region from Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen. In addition, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) launched drone attacks. The entire day was marked by somber memorials and heavy rocket attacks throughout the nation.”
Huff continued, “There are many things in the news that represent this message…a day that no one was prepared for that shook the ground beneath the feet of people…hurricanes, earthquakes, acts of violence, and other devastating impacts.”
Huff added she is praying for those whose “ground broke beneath them.”
“May God bring you comfort that no other thing of this earth can,” she concluded.
