‘Queen of Christmas’ Mariah Carey Is Ready To Start The Holiday Season

By Movieguide® Contributor

Mariah Carey, known as the “Queen of Christmas,” is ready to start the holiday season!

The pop star announced the beginning of the Christmas season with a video posted to Twitter and Instagram.

The video shows Carey riding an exercise bike in a witch costume, surrounded by pumpkins, bats, and discarded calendar pages.

As the pages countdown to November 1, the video cuts to Carey in a red Christmas jumpsuit yelling, “It’s time!”

The camera pulls back to reveal Carey is riding a reindeer, and her hit Christmas song, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” starts to play.

The 1994 hit single is the best-selling Christmas song of all time. In 2019, it went No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — 25 years after its initial release.

While many view Carey as the Queen of Christmas, the pop star has said that someone else deserves that title. Movieguide® previously reported:

Many have jokingly called Mariah Carey the Queen of Christmas. Her 1994 song “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” is a smash hit, gaining millions of streams every year at Christmas.

However, Carey believes someone else deserves the title of Queen of Christmas. In a new interview on the Zoe Hall Breakfast Show, Carey spoke about her love of the holiday and why she “doesn’t consider” herself the Christmas Queen.

“I’m someone that loves Christmas, that happened to be blessed to write ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’” the singer said. “And a lot of other Christmas songs. And let’s face it, you know, everybody’s faith is what it is. But to me, Mary is the Queen of Christmas.”

The singer has always been very open about her faith, especially in her recent book, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.” She writes about all the ways God’s grace has touched her and shaped her life. In one chapter, she writes about meeting Rev. Clarence Keaton, the man who helped her rebuild her life after a breakdown.

“After I was broken, I received a blessing,” Carey wrote. “The trouble and trauma I endured was not only emotional; it was spiritual, as well. As such, I sought healing for my soul. I knew I had to revive and recommit to my relationship with God.”

“In the end, and in the beginning, it’s all about faith for me,” the singer continued. “I can’t define it, but it has defined me.”
