By Movieguide® Contributor

The cast of REACHER has grown for Season 3 as Brian Tee, Johnny Berchtold, Roberto Montesinos and Daniel David Stewart land roles on the show.

Tee joins as Quinn, a “physically imposing and intimidating” lieutenant colonel Reacher investigated in the past. Berchtold will play Richard Beck, “a college student who lost his mother when he was very young and [is] the son of businessman Zachary Beck.”  Montesinons joins as Guillermo Villanueva, “a DEA agent on the verge of retirement.” And, finally, Stewart will play Steven Elliot, “a rookie DEA agent who is fresh-faced and new to the job.”

The upcoming season will follow the plot of “Persuader,” the seventh book in Lee Child’s “Reacher” series. The high-level plot follows Jack Reacher as he goes undercover to rescue an informant from a foe from his past.

Season 3 does not yet have a planned release date.

REACHER is one of Prime Video’s most popular shows. During the release weekend of the second season, it was the number one title on the platform worldwide across both TV and movies. This exposure caused viewership to explode, with the series’ global audience rising by 50% from Season 1 to Season 2 over its first three days available.

Though the show is marred by violence, language and sex, it often features redeeming storylines that promote good prevailing over evil, family, patriotism, and Christianity.

Movieguide® nominated Episode 2.5: “Burial” for the Best Television for Mature Audiences Teddy Bear Award® at this year’s Movieguide® Awards.

Part of Movieguide®’s review for season 2 reads:

Episode Five of REACHER: Season Two is an exciting, slam-bang episode. Season Two is one of the more gripping action series available on the major streaming outlets. Best of all, Episode Five has strong Christian, pro-family, patriotic values and overt references to resurrection and eternal life through Jesus. The best scenes, which are extremely moving and uplifting, are smack dab in the middle of Episode Five. However, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution because of strong foul language and intense violence involving ruthless, murderous terrorists in Episode Five of REACHER: Season Two.

REACHER star Alan Ritchson, a strong Christian, believes that taking on roles like these gives him a chance to spread the Gospel to people who might otherwise miss it.

Movieguide® previously reported:

After facing backlash for playing the titular character in REACHER, Alan Ritchson explains how he takes on non-Christian roles to spread the Gospel.

“I love playing Reacher. I love telling this story. I love playing a character who creates a kind of moral ambiguity that we should struggle against as we consider whether or not what he’s doing is good all the time or morally right,” Ritchson said in a YouTube video.

“A lot of people, supposed Christians especially, criticize me for playing Reacher as if the only TV that should exist is seeing people silently folding their hands in the pew of a church. I mean, what kinds of stories are we supposed to tell?” he continued. “If we look at scripture, what do you find? You see a thousand years of an infinitely holy God holding tension with human beings as He tells the story of who He is.”
