Country star Reba McEntire is relying on her faith as she hosts this year’s Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards before shooting begins on NBC’s newest sitcom HAPPY’S PLACE.
This isn’t McEntire’s first time hosting the ACM Awards. She also emceed in 2010. During this year’s show, she will return to the stage for the 17th time since winning the Entertainer of the Year Award nearly thirty years ago. During her hosting duties, she will also perform her newest single “I Can’t.”
“I really enjoy doing the awards, so I don’t have any [pre-show] rituals,” she said in an Instagram post. “I don’t have anything that I have to do before I go out except pray. I ask the Holy Spirit to walk for me, talk for me, speak for me and sing for me. And that always gives me the confidence to take that first step and go have a good time.”
As for HAPPY’S PLACE, McEntire is excited to return to comedy. She previously worked on the hit show REBA, which ran on The CW for six seasons in the early 2000s. She also worked on MALIBU COUNTRY, which only aired for one season. Working on HAPPY’S PLACE has reunited McEntire with some of the same cast and crew.
“I love all genres of entertainment, but sitcoms are just so much fun because it’s a brand new script every week, and you’re just having fun,” McEntire told Entertainment Tonight, per Fox News. “It’s really hard to memorize all the dialogue you have to do, but…it ain’t my first rodeo. I do love it. It’s just playtime. We have a blast with it.”
“We’ve got the same producers, same showrunners, same writers [as the previous shows],” she added. “And now we’re back with Melissa Peterman and Rex Linn, my boyfriend, and [a] wonderful, wonderful cast and crew.”

Country star Reba McEntire is revving up for her new sitcom, HAPPY’S PLACE.
“NBC has handed a series order to HAPPY’S PLACE, a multi-camera comedy starring McEntire and her former REBA co-star Melissa Peterman. It will air during the 2024-2025 TV season,” TV Insider reported.
“The comedy centers around Bobbie, played by McEntire, who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to find she has a half-sister she never knew she had, who also becomes her business partner. The new series was created by Reba executive producer Kevin Abbott,” TV Insider said.
McEntire previously rooted for a reboot of her show, REBA. While HAPPY’S PLACE isn’t a REBA restart, McEntire looks forward to performing in the new show with her old co-star.
