Rising Country Star Stands Up For God and Country in New Song

Anne Wilson shared a sneak peek at her new song which encourages her fans to stand up for what they know is right rather than staying quiet just because it is easier.

“You can stand. Stand your ground, say I won’t back down. Even when the whole world’s against me, I’m standing strong ‘cause I know who’s with me,” the chorus goes. “Pray in the face of fear. Let them know you’re here. Yeah, we all got a choice in life, you can run, you can hide, you can fall for the lies. Or stand.”

“I was raised to stand up for what I believe in. My God, my country and what is right and true,” Wilson wrote in the caption of the sneak peek. “Now more than ever I feel a stirring in my heart to have the courage to not be quiet or worried about following the crowd. I’ve been working on a song about standing up for what I believe in.”

Wilson’s decision to create a song about standing for what is right lines up with her philosophy toward music. She has become one of country music’s biggest rising stars because she isn’t afraid to incorporate her beliefs into her songs.

“In my own journey, I need to be authentically who I am, which is someone who loves Jesus, but I love country music,” Wilson told Matthew West in May. “But I’m not compromising.”

Her second album, “Rebel,” put this mentality on full display as she combined her country sound with her Christian roots.

“For every song we wrote, and every idea creatively, how can make this video something so different that no other Christian artist would really do?” she explained, specifically discussing her music video for “Songs About Whiskey.” “And for me, it was doing it in a bar. What does it mean to take the Gospel into the world and preaching Jesus to a crowd of people who don’t really know Him? Which literally makes is so much more special to me.”

As she continues to make waves in the country scene, Wilson’s music impacts millions of fans and encourages them to stand for their beliefs rather than compromise.

Anne Wilson reminded her fans that true strength comes from the Lord and we can rely on Him to sustain us even when we feel weak.

“‘That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties,’” Wilson wrote on Instagram. “For when I am weak, then I am strong’ (2 Corinthians 12:10). ?”

Wilson has long encouraged her fans to set their eyes on Christ. Though she is a country musician, all of her work centers on the Gospel, and her faith often makes its way into her songs.

Without compromising her faith or her country heart, Wilson has risen to become one of music’s most popular stars with her Grammy-nominated debut album, “My Jesus,” recently topping one billion streams. Her commitment to who she is has helped her stand out and garner a large audience.

“I didn’t change who I was. I stuck to who I am and what I believe, and it’s really cool to see how it’s all come together,” Wilson told PEOPLE before the release of her second album “Rebel.”
