HGTV’s ROCK THE BLOCK is celebrating the latest season’s massive success.
“The most recent season of HGTV’s smash hit competition series ROCK THE BLOCK was filmed in Treasure Island, Fla. The updated ratings are in, and the show delivered the network’s highest-rated series to-date in 2024, with the seven-episode season attracting 13.6 million total viewers,” a press release revealed.
The release also reported that the show ranked #2 “among Upscale Women” and “a top 5 non-news/sports cable program among Women 25-54 and Upscale Adults 25-54.”
This past season saw Bryan and Sarah Baeumler (RENOVATION ISLAND), Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas (BARGAIN BLOCK), Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis (UNSELLABLE HOUSE) and Page Turner and Mitch Glew (FIX MY FLIP) compete against each other.
“They’ve been tasked with renovating their own attached waterfront homes in Treasure Island, Florida over six weeks with a $250,000 budget. The 3,600 sq. ft. properties have a current market value of $1.7 million, so whoever impresses the star-studded judges and adds the most value wins,” TV Insider reported.
Ty Pennington, host of the show, posted about the success on Instagram.
“Opinions might’ve been mixed but you sure tuned it ?? Thank you to everyone who watched ?? Now who wants to see another season?!” he wrote.
People commented with excitement over the news.
One fan said, “It’s a fantastic show and so glad you are in it! I really miss Extreme Makeover Home Improvement as I loved seeing the family’s reactions. Anything with you and home makeovers is a 10/10 for me!”
Another person said, “Congratulations @thetypennington. Been #1 since day 1 ?”
Pennington predicted before the show’s airing in March that this season would be one for the books. Movieguide® reported:
“It’s probably the most dramatic season yet,” host Ty Pennington said of Season 5, which sees four teams of previous competitors returning to ROCK THE BLOCK to makeover houses in Treasure Island, Florida. “It’s also some of the best in the business coming back to redeem themselves from what we all hate, failing and losing.”
He continued, “I’d say it’s the biggest one yet. The ideas are bigger. The reveals are bigger. I think the competition knew who they were competing against, so they had to bring some extra oomph and it showed.”
