Rookie NFL QB Bo Nix Drafted to Denver: ‘God Has a Plan’

The Denver Broncos drafted former Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix as the twelfth overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Denver. Let’s go Broncos,” Nix posted on Instagram, along with a video of when his name was called.

After the draft, Broncos head coach Sean Payton explained why they chose Nix.

“I would say that probably early into the process, shortly after these workouts, [Nix] stood out in a lot of areas,” Payton said. “You pay close attention to all the film study. Obviously, he’s played a lot of football, but [he stood out in] sack differential, turnover differential, accuracy, third-down passing. … I would say his arm strength was — we saw it at the pro day — but even in the private workout, was very good. He’s super smart.”

Two days later, Nix was still in awe.

“A day my family and I will never forget. Thank you to the Broncos organization for welcoming us and making us feel at home,” he wrote in another post.

While at his first-ever Broncos press conference, Nix shared his excitement about beginning his NFL journey.

“I’m so excited to be a Denver Bronco,” he said. “I’m excited for Day 1, can’t wait to get around my teammates.”

He also shared that he relies on his faith when he faces adversity.

“For me, it’s really easy,” the quarterback declared. “My faith is really important to me. I’ve always been a faith-based person. I believe that God has a plan for me and my life. I truly believe that he has set this path in front of me, and he put me here in Denver for a reason. That’s why, honestly, through the process, I wasn’t nervous or anxious about it one bit. I knew that I was going to go to the right spot, and the right spot is here.”

“You just have to trust and believe that his plans are higher than your ways. So that’s what I truly believe,” he continued. “I’m a perfect example of that. If you haven’t seen it already, you can look at my story and know that he has an individual plan for each one of our lives. He sets it out in front of us, and all we have to do is follow.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Nix’s faith:

In an interview with ESPN’s SPORTSCENTER, Nix was asked where his success comes from.

“Well, that one’s easy to me,” he replied without hesitation. “It’s all about, you know, the Lord’s timing in my life. It’s been a huge God moment. It’s been a huge God story for me. You know, I just kept to the plan and kept faith, and you know, ultimately, he put me where I needed to be at the right time. And I had a great time at Auburn, and I learned a lot. And I graduated from there, and it was a great experience.”

“And then I had the opportunity to transfer to Oregon where it’s just been an awesome experience. You know, I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” he added.
