How Ryan Seacrest Feels About His First Day on WHEEL OF FORTUNE Set
By Movieguide® Contributor
Ryan Seacrest just filmed his first WHEEL OF FORTUNE episode since taking the role as host after Pat Sajak’s retirement.
“A glimpse of my first day at @wheeloffortune, and I’m still spinning with excitement!” he captioned an Instagram video of him entering the set for the first time.
“My heart’s pounding. I’m so excited,” he says in the video.
“There’s the wheel…The wheel’s maybe smaller than you think — as am I,” he joked upon seeing the famous wheel. “I could not sleep last night; I was so excited. I slept okay, but still very excited for the alarm to go off.”
He then stood next to a cardboard cutout of Pat Sajak. “Who’s taller?” he said. “He is… shocker,” he smiled while pointing to Sajak.
Users commented in excitement for Seacrest’s new role.
“You’re excited…no I’m excited! This is going to be epic…can’t wait to see you on screen again!” one person said.
Another chimed in, “The sound we have heard for several generations in my house?? Excited that you were passed the torch on this legacy.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Seacrest’s thoughts on Sajak:
“There’s no one better than Pat Sajak,” Seacrest added. “He is so smooth and seamless. He’s beloved by the country. So I feel a lot of pressure. [But] I’m really excited. I can’t wait to just give away a bunch of money to people every night.”
The new host also expressed his excitement to work with co-host Vanna White.
“Vanna has been such a staple on that show and in our living rooms for so many years. I have been very excited to work with her, but now that it’s official, I can say, ‘Congratulations Vanna! I can’t wait,’” he expressed.
WHEEL OF FOURTUNE first aired in 1975, and Pat Sajak became host in 1981. Variety reported, “Sajak’s final episode of WHEEL OF FORTUNE aired on June 7, reaching 11 million viewers.”
