Feeling Insecure? DUCK DYNASTY Star Says Confidence in Christ Changes Everything

By Movieguide® Contributor

Sadie Robertson Huff and family members Blakely and Maia are sharing the confidence and security they have found in Christ.

“I started following Jesus going into high school,” Blakely Huff, Sadie’s cousin-in-law, said during an episode of the “WHOA That’s Good” podcast. “I was just so obsessed with God. I just really didn’t care about what anyone thought [about me].”

Sadie agreed, saying, “Truly, when you’re looking at Jesus, you’re getting to see who you are, who you are called to be, who you were created to be by your Creator, and it does bring forth such confidence. You can own your space [because] you realize it’s really not about you.”

“I remember, in 8th grade, being really insecure and wanting to find confidence and really starting to find that in God,” she explained.

The family members also spoke about how, in strengthening their relationship with God, they also fortified their relationships with others in their lives.

Maia Huff, Sadie’s sister-in-law, explained, “Whenever you’re with the Lord, the Lord is your ultimate source…when you’re rooted by that source, you know then you could flourish.”

She said that most people find this source and immediately go into a scarcity mindset, thinking that “there’s only this certain amount of space.”

“When we think about flourishing, we think we have to compete with people,” Maia said. “I’ve really realized through scripture…with God as my source and with Him being the one that all of my life flows through, I don’t have to compete.”

She continued, “You will be mind blown at what God does whenever you’re just cheering your sister on and how it just changes your own heart.”

“There’s a true joy that comes from seeing people flourish,” Sadie added, “When you flip your mind to Kingdom thinking and you’re able to celebrate like you’re a team, it’s fun! It’s so freeing for your mind…it’s a beautiful gift.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Sadie’s thoughts on comparing ourselves to others:

Robertson’s other daughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, has also reflected on how she fights comparison.

“If you’re comparing yourself to someone, you are always going to feel less than because you cannot be them. There’s a reason for that. That you feel less than. Because if you’re in comparison to them, you will be less than they are because you’re not them,” she said last year.

“God did create us uniquely and originally, and we can be confident in who we are enough to cheer on others and not feel less than,” Huff added.

Maia and Blakely have been sharing their testimonies with others through Overflow Creative, their creative agency and ministry.

“We have found a deep joy in helping others launch, brand, and market their visions. We are currently collaborating with clients worldwide to effectively showcase and communicate their hard work,” the company’s Instagram posted. “A percentage of ALL our revenue is dedicated to ministry events + mission trips + whatever God calls us to do.”

Maia also has a podcast, “In This Together,” that is focused on reminding listeners of the importance of community.

In a recent post, Maia shared that she had recently been struggling with physical insecurities. After turning to scripture, she found comfort in 1 Samuel 10-11.

“I was designed, completely, by God. Every inch,” she wrote. “Every part I like and don’t like. And God will use physical insecurities for His purpose! And He can use them to further the Kingdom of God!! How cool! I hope this perspective shift helps you give the Lord your physical insecurities and helps you even talk more about them. In hopes that more conversations, can lead to more people being set free from the lies they are believing about themselves!”
