Sadie Robertson Huff Explains How To Center Relationships On God
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sadie Robertson Huff is emphasizing the importance of centering relationships on God.
“The beauty of having a Christ-centered relationship is that when the two of you fail, which you will, you either fail yourself, you fail each other, you fail someone — you just fail,” she said in a recent episode of her “Whoa That’s Good” podcast. “We’re imperfect. We’re flawed. What we get to do is, we’re tethered to God.”
She continued, “He is the first in your relationship. [Ask yourself] how do we put God first, because whenever we fail, we come to a solid ground. We come to a truth that’s eternal. We come to a truth that’s unwavering, so when we struggle with things, instead of going to outside sources that might be good advice but lead us apart from each other, we’re going to the same source that’s eternally good, that’s always the same, that never changes — the Word of God.”
This topic is one Huff explores in her latest book, “How To Put Love First,” which she wrote with husband Christian.
“This is for the single, dating, engaged or married person!” the couple said of the devotional. “This is for everyone, because everyone is called to put love first! It was so fun (and challenging) to write this book together! We are straight up about all the things in this book and truly challenging us to look more like love himself – Jesus!”
A synopsis of the book reads:
“You are meant to be in relationships that bring joy and connection—that help you know soul-deep peace and leave you feeling loved instead of lonely. Instead, surface-level friendships, filtered social media feeds, unresolved conflicts, and unhealthy relationships can often seem to harm our self-worth, spiritual growth, and mental health—and keep us from the very relationships that could bring that true connection.
How to Put Love First reminds you that prioritizing and deepening your love relationship with God is the key to growing healthy relationships in every area of life.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Huff’s thoughts on centering God in your relationships:
Sadie Robertson Huff and her husband Christian recently talked about their new book, “How to Put Love First,” sharing how putting God first allows us to love others well.
“When God is first in our life, when love is put first, then all of our relationships are so blessed,” Sadie told TBN. “By that, I mean the overflow of relationship with the Lord blesses every relationship in your life, whether that’s with your spouse, with your parents, with your family, with your friends.”
While culture has certain ideas about love, the Huffs understand that true love can only be found in God.
“Our culture has put a lot of ideas in front of us about what love is and how its supposed to look. You typically see that on display on Instagram with a picture of an insanely cute couple, on a romcom where everything is weirdly perfect…but we are talking about a much different and bigger picture of love in this book,” the introduction to the book reads.
