Sadie Robertson Huff, Lindsay Neely on Relationship Between Faith and Finance

Sadie Robertson Huff and friend Lindsay Neely recently discussed Neely’s journey to becoming debt-free, as well as how faith factored into her family’s financial decisions.
“We put our heads down,” Neely said of her and her husband’s decision to forgo things like dinners out and vacations in an effort to rid themselves of debt. “We worked really hard, and we stayed committed to that.”
When drawing up budgets for this journey, the couple agreed that it was important to set aside money for their church.
“We were like, ‘Okay, we’re going to tithe every week, and that’s the first thing that comes out of our budget,’ and we did, and I can’t even tell you the amount of blessings we’ve gotten,” Neely shared. “Just God showing up, one time after another. If you really do give God his part first, he will show up.”
She continued, “We’ve seen that just in doing this debt-free journey. Jesus has shown up so many times where we were just like, ‘Oh, my goodness, okay, we want to do more of this because this is Jesus’ blessing. He just keeps providing for us.’”
Neely shared that the family is now “content” with their life, as it is now no longer centered around material things—“It’s just about what our life is: having our family and loving the Lord and just being able to serve and show love to others.”
She also cited Philippians 4:11—“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”
“We are giving him his part first, and we’ve really been able to turn off our wants that we thought we really wanted—it’s like they’re not even there anymore,” she concluded. “We want to do what we’re supposed to do and be good stewards of God and help provide and love others.”
Neely and Huff’s conversation took place in Huff’s new podcast studio for her “WHOA That’s Good” podcast.
“I just couldn’t let the day go by without a huge shout out to everyone in the Whoa That’s Good fam for making this happen! Without all of your support this would not be able to become what it is,” Huff wrote in an Instagram post.
She continued, “The studio is amazing, but the goal of this podcast was never to have a cool studio… it’s not about where it’s recorded – it’s about who is listening on the other side. It’s not about where I am at – it’s about where you are at. I pray before every interview that the conversations we are having would touch you right where YOU are at in life.”
“I’m forever grateful to get to do what I do! I love having good conversations that lead people to finding true hope, joy, and love in Jesus!” Huff concluded. “Cheers to many more incredible conversations in this space!”
