Sadie Robertson Huff is reminding us of the power our words can have and sharing the word she stopped thinking was okay because she now realizes that power.

“I remember back in high school, a lot of people used the b-word,” she said during a recent episode of her “WHOA That’s Good” podcast. “Like, they called people that, and I remember thinking that was not, like, a super bad word, you know? Like I would — like, you deem what words you think are worse than others. What I’m saying now is, I think I didn’t think it was that bad because everyone said it.”

Huff continued, “Let me say now, I think it’s one of the worst, because you’re — that’s the opposite of building someone up. You are belittling someone. You are talking to someone’s character and offending them.”

She explained that, when you use that word, “you’re in line with actual sin…that is unwholesome thought….that is not gracious words. That is not kind words.”

“It’s just interesting because I didn’t think it was that bad because so many people used it, but now in the context of studying the Bible, I’m, like, no, it’s absolutely wrong to say something like that,” Huff concluded. “It’s not light, it’s not a small thing to do. It’s actually a really big deal.”

Huff and her husband Christian recently shared some exciting news — they’re expecting Baby No. 3!

“Our hearts are so full,” the couple announced in a February Instagram post. “another little love joining the Huff family.”

The couple are already parents to daughters Honey James, 3, and Haven Belle, 1.

Huff shared a recent health scare that had her thinking she had gone into early labor.

“Friday afternoon I got hit with what we think was food poisoning and it was rough…. I ended up in the hospital having consistent contractions every 3 minutes for a couple of hours,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Thankfully I got the best care in a hospital and they were able to confirm I was not in pre-term labor just the aftermath of the food poisoning.”

Huff continued, “This pregnancy has been wild, but I am just so thankful baby is kicking around in the womb unbothered by wild ride we’ve been on. Praying we make a turn today! Sharing because Instagram can’t just get all the good stuff – we gotta have a little reality up in here! My body hurts, but I’m thankful for it. God is good!”

Huff’s recent thoughts on the power of words are an excellent reminder to be conscious of the language we use every day.
