Sadie Robertson Huff Shares ‘Hilarious’ Baby No. 2 Birth Story
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sadie Robertson Huff and her husband Christian shared the hilarious birth story of their second daughter, Haven Belle Huff, who was born in May, on the “WHOA That’s Good” podcast.
Since their first daughter Honey had shoulder dysplasia from her birth, the doctors recommended that Haven be born via C-section.
“We knew we’d have a C-section which was great, up until right before I had the C-section, and I got really really nervous,” Sadie said. “Leading up to having her I was so excited to have her, to like welcome that change into life, but a little bit nervous.”
“I was more nervous about having two kids,” Christian added.
Sadie shared that the pregnancy was rough, as she was sick a lot of the time.
“It’s hard but I still loved it…she was so cute in the womb. She hiccuped all the time and kicked me so much, which I love that kind of stuff, just feeling her and the miracle of it,” Sadie said.
The night before the C-section, the couple planned on waking up at 5 a.m. to head to the hospital. They had just gotten ready for bed when they started to smell something.
Christian said it was “the worst smell.” Sadie laughed, “That was a skunk.”
Christian continued, “So I take a flashlight I walk all around the house on the porch just trying to find the skunk.”
Sadie added, “It’s 1 a.m., and we are searching for a skunk that just sprayed our entire house. Okay, so then I’m like, ‘We can’t stay here. We can’t sleep here.’”
They went to Sadie’s parents’ house and left for the hospital a few hours later. There, she met with the anesthesiologist to talk through the procedure.
The couple laughed as they recalled the next part of the story. “[The anesthesiologist] had a booger. A big one. On his face. For a solid thirty minutes,” Christian chuckled.
However, the unintended comedic relief actually helped ease Sadie’s nervousness about the C-section.
Sadie described the moment she met Haven after the procedure.
“I’m looking up, and it’s just really sweet because I see my baby right in front of me and then Christian’s like over my head…and, I kid you not, they looked exactly alike,” Sadie said. “And I was like it happened again. I birthed my husband again…I literally thought she was the cutest thing in the world, but I literally looked up and I was like, ‘Wow, I just did it again, that is hilarious.’”
The couple shared how big sister Honey was adjusting to the new baby. Sadie tried to put the girls in identical pajamas, and Honey had a tantrum, saying, “Bring her back to the doctor.”
But “Two weeks in and we’re watching Frozen…and I said Honey, you know, Anna and Elsa are sisters just like you and Haven are sisters. And she just kind of looked at Haven and she smiled…Now she’s just obsessed,” Sadie recalled.
Sadie recently posted pictures of her family on Instagram.
“Not enough words to say how much I love them!” she wrote.
“Our birth story with Haven is up on the podcast today and will be up on YouTube later today!! Be prepared to laugh! ? There were some pretty hilarious things that happened leading up to the c-section! Hope y’all smile today listening to us talk about one of our favorite days ever when we had our sweet sweet girl,” she concluded.
Movieguide® also reported on Sadie’s feelings about being a new mom to her first daughter, Honey:
“In an emotional Instagram post, Huff wrote, ‘This year, this girl, has taught me the value of time. I think for most of life you have the tendency to want to rush time. You can’t wait to turn 10, can’t wait to get your license, cant wait to graduate, can’t wait to be married, can’t wait to have a kid… and then you do and all you want is for time to stop for a while so you can just be right where you are at. For the first time in, well, a long time, I’m not wishing away the season I’m in to get to the next. In fact I’m wishing that right here right now I could just stay a little longer.’”
