Saints’ DeMario Davis Makes ESPN’s Top-10 Linebacker List

New Orleans Saints linebacker DeMario Davis recently made ESPN’s top-10 off-ball linebackers list, where he ranks no. 6.
“One of the best honors in all of sports is to be respected by your peers, and New Orleans Saints linebacker DeMario Davis has demanded respect from the NFL. Going from almost retiring with the Jets to becoming one of the best LB’s in all of football is an impressive compliment,” Canal St. Chronicles reported.
Davis stays on the verge of a place in the top five for the second time in a row. He received the same rank of no. 6 last year.
“You see a lot of similarly gifted athletes struggle at LB, especially when drafted high and are asked to be immediately productive, but he had time to figure it out and his game took off,” Jeremy Fowler, an ESPN reporter, said. Fowler quoted an NFC scout: ’He’s become a better all-around player each year in that [Saints] scheme and how he’s deployed.”

‘I remember asking God, ‘Why am I going through this again?’ Because at least in my relationship with God, if I feel like I’m going through the same thing, there’s something I didn’t learn the first time,’ [Davis] said on an episode of the Sports Spectrum podcast. ‘So was there something I didn’t learn in my year in Cleveland or something I didn’t learn in my years in New York?’
Davis said that the popular Serenity Prayer helped him learn a new lesson. The prayer partially reads: ‘God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.’
Now, with ten years of experience, and individual success, in the NFL, Davis continues to champion Christ, whether his team wins or loses.
Movieguide® also celebrated with DeMario when he publicly credited God for healing his young daughter of cancer: “’We always want to turn adversity into something positive,’ Davis said. ‘And that’s what we want to do is use our platform to bring more awareness. Carly-Faith, she’s doing amazing, 100% healthy, and just praising God for that.’”
