Savannah Bananas Baseball Player Urges Fans ‘Keep God in Your Life’

While baseball is filled with athleticism, strategy and patience, the Savannah Bananas spice up the game with fun and entertainment, and one player is reminding his fans to prioritize God.

The Savannah Bananas are known as “the greatest show in sports.” Banana Ball, their version of baseball, allows “players, coaches and umpires to break out into elaborate dance routines and other circus-like antics in the middle of the game.”

Most of their roster includes former collegiate players, and player Brandon Crosby decided to use his new platform to share his faith.

In a video shared on his social media page, Crosby bends over while another player flips over his back.

He stands up straight and tells viewers, “Don’t jump into conclusions. Jump into the Word. Keep God in your life.”

He also included Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

The team’s fan-focused mission comes from the top. Jared Orton, the president of the Savannah Bananas, sees the team’s reach—it has over 2.6 million Instagram followers—as an opportunity to share the gospel.

“We’re in this thing to share the love of Jesus with people and to be a part of the Great Commission,” he told CBN’s 700 CLUB. “We love what we do. We love the people that we do it with, and we love the people that we serve and the hundreds of thousands of people and all the Bananas fans.”

“Although the team is not a Christian team, we can still bring that love of Christ to whomever we meet, whether it’s the game-day staff or whether it’s full-time staff or whether it’s just just a fan,” Orton’s wife, Kelsey, added.

The Bananas have already started their 2024 season.

“This year’s team will bring Banana Ball to several venues, including six MLB stadiums. The Bananas are set to play the largest game in Banana Ball history at Citizens Bank Park, which is the home of the Philadelphia Phillies,” the Sporting News reported.

They’ll stop in 26 cities this season, and most of their games will be against the Party Animals.
