Actor Scott Foley will lead the upcoming faith-based series IT’S NOT LIKE THAT on Prime Video, starring as a recently widowed minister.
“IT’S NOT LIKE THAT follows Lori, who is freshly divorced with two teens. Malcolm’s (Foley) a minister and recently widowed dad of three. Their families once did everything together, but now Lori and Malcolm must navigate their newly minted singledom, parenthood and the complexities of Malcolm being a modern-day minister. Is this the beginning of a love story? It’s not like that. Or is it?” an official logline for the show reads, per Deadline.
The show comes out of Jon Erwin’s Wonder Project, a faith-based studio the JESUS REVOLUTION director opened in late 2023. Erwin will serve as an executive producer on the show along with Justin Rosenblatt and Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, who both work with him at Wonder Project. The series was created by Ian Deichtman and Kristin Robertson who will both serve as showrunners.

IT’S NOT LIKE THAT is the latest project in the works from the studio which is about to release a slew of content. It’s first show, HOUSE OF DAVID, released to Prime Video on Feb. 27, while Zachary Levi-led period drama SARAH’S OIL is in post-production and is set to release in theaters this holiday season. A comedy starring Nate Bargatze is also in the works. Last fall, the studio announced a Wright brother’s movie biopic is in production, and in January, Wonder Project announced a movie adaptation of the book The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion starring Reba McEntire.
This slew of Christian content comes as the industry sees an upswing in the popularity of uplifting shows and movies. Since the success of THE CHOSEN during the pandemic, multiple studios have opened faith-based wings to cater to the underserved faith-based audience. Amazon was one of the first to jump onto the trend, allowing them to beat other major studios to the punch in releasing this type of content.
