Seahawks Linebacker Jordyn Brooks Calls His Career Success ‘A Blessing From God’

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks credited God for his success on the football field this season.
Brooks was the 27th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, something that took many by surprise — including Brooks himself.
“I didn’t really care about people thinking it was a surprise or whatever you wanna call it,” he said of that moment. “I knew what I was capable of, and the front office believed in my abilities. I just thank God for that moment. I’m still thankful today. I’m glad to be here in Seattle.”
Last year, his second NFL season, Brooks finished second in the league in tackles with 184 and has held on to that position throughout this season.
Seahawks general manager John Schneider calls Brooks “the best player on the board.”
The linebacker is very vocal about his faith and points to God as the reason for all his success.
“I see myself as a football player, a player that can do anything,” he explained. “It’s my God-given ability that I’ve been blessed with.”
He has also called it “a blessing from God” that he was able to join the Seahawks and learn from amazing players like linebackers Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright.
Brooks frequently mentions his gratitude to God on Instagram. A 2021 post shows him on the field in his Seahawks uniform.
“Never felt comfortable saying ‘I did this or I did that’ knowing god did it all for me,” he captioned the post. “For that reason alone I give him thanks.”
