Shaan Sharma on THE CHOSEN Season 4: ‘It’s Gonna Be Really Fun’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Shaan Sharma, who plays Schmuel in THE CHOSEN series, told Movieguide® that Season 4 might be the last season that will have “some fun” as the show gets more serious in consecutive seasons.
“I’m as interested as everybody else in how it’s going to play out because obviously there’s going to be some real tough stuff ahead. But so maybe this is one of the last seasons where we get to have some fun, you know?” Sharma chuckled.
“Obviously, you know, there’s a book [the Bible] you can read to see things where things ultimately go,” he explained. “So it’s not like it’s a mystery where ultimately this story’s going to go. But it’s going to be really fun as the audience gets to experience how Dallas and the team have stitched together what we know with things that we’ve been able to create to flesh out [in] the world.”
Though there will be some lightheartedness, there will still be some solemn tones in the show as Jesus nears crucifixion.
“And you know,” the actor continued, “now that I think that we’ve seen through the first three seasons, things are starting to get pretty serious, and Jesus might be in trouble.”
Sharma previously told Movieguide® about his character’s role in Season 4:
Sharma chatted about the growth of his character, Schmuel.
“At the end of Season 3, we see Schmuel finally catch up and confront Jesus after three seasons of being skeptical, then being convinced he’s a false prophet and then actively trying to get him held accountable for this false prophecy,” Sharma told Movieguide®. “And then he actually gets to meet them face to face at the end of Season 3, and then they go up a hill to pray together. And that’s kind of a cliffhanger for our relationship. And so in Season 4, we actually get to see how that impacted well. So I think anybody who is following a small story with interest is going to be pleased to see that there was an impact there.”
The Direct reported that THE CHOSEN Season 4, episodes 1, 2 and 3, will be released in theatres in the U.S. and Canada from Feb. 1–14, 2024. The successive episodes will screen from Feb. 15 to 28. Viewers will also have free streaming access through THE CHOSEN’s website or app.
“Will Thomas and Ramah finally get married? Will the olive oil endeavor with Mary and Tamar succeed? Will Simon and Eden finally have the baby they’ve wanted so desperately?” and “What miracles will Jesus perform?” are some questions Angel Studios says will be answered in THE CHOSEN Season 4.
