Singer Mike Posner is reflecting on his biggest hit 10 years after he wrote it and showing gratitude for all the ways his life has changed.

“On my 26th birthday, i wrote I Took A Pill in Ibiza…10 years ago,” Posner tweeted. “The song became popular several years after i wrote it. Yesterday i celebrated my 36th birthday. i feel proud to look at the song lyrics and know that NONE of them are true anymore. I’ve grown into a completely new man…one that i’m proud of.”

The musician posted lyrics from the song, which focused on the excesses that can come with fame, like drug use and partying.

“[I] don’t need to prove anything to anyone other than God [and I] love myself,” Posner wrote in a Twitter thread breaking down “I Took A Pill in Ibiza.” “Spent a decade creating a community of the most loving high powered friends in the world. massive investment into relationship with my mom and sister…best it’s ever been. relationship with God is on a whole new level.”

He continued, “i am the happiest i have ever been in my life and have sustained faith love and joy mindset for over a year and am not going back.”

Posner often shares his faith through his music. In 2019, he posted lyrics to his 2016 track “One Hell of a Song.”

“This is what the Lord wants me to do. In my heart I just believe that there’s no proof,” Posner tweeted. “I think about the chorus, and the melody is important, But nothing sounds sweeter than the truth.”

The singer also recently spoke about going on a “spiritual warpath” and helping others through challenges while talking to TMZ.

“I teach what I need to learn,” Posner explained. “I know a lot about darkness…so all the happiness I’ve experienced in my life — I built that…Challenges make you grow.”
