It’s sad to see a good thing end…even if temporarily.

As the second season of COUNTY RESCUE comes to an end, Brett Varvel, who plays EMT Andy, praises those involved with the show, with hope for a third season.

“Season 2 of County Rescue has officially ended!” Varvel posted, followed by a high-five and crying emojis. “I am so blessed to be part of an amazing cast and crew who worked so hard to bring this show to life.”

He went on to thank Great American Family for “taking a chance on the show,” which is GAF’s first original series.

“Thank you for giving us a platform to share this story and for your incredible support!” he wrote. “Thank you for not backing away from the challenge of bringing a faith-based medical drama to audiences everywhere.”

The faith drama takes place in Bradley County, Tennessee, and follows the lives and struggles of EMTs. The show also stars Tanya Christiansen, Julia Reilly, Riley Hough and Percy Bell.

“To my fellow cast mates…what can I say? I love you guys. I’m so proud of each and every one of you. I am so thankful that God chose to bring us all together. My life will never be the same,” Varvel continued.

The AMERICAN UNDERDOG star gave a special shoutout to cast mate Keller Fornes, who played Griffin on the series. The writer/director passed away at 32 years old in December of last year.

“Season 2 dedicated to our beloved friend Keller Fornes,” he wrote. “We love you and miss you.”

Not leaving out the fans, he gave a thank you, “Without you there is no season 2 of COUNTY RESCUE.”

“Your voice was heard, and we are so thankful for your love and support of this show!” Varvel said. “Keep it up and maybe we will have the honor of bringing you season 3.”

While season three of the Movieguide® nominated show is yet to be announced, Varvel and Kristin Wollett, who plays Ashley, shared what they would like to see if it was renewed for another season.

“So, you’ve got the challenge and beauty, right, of marriage and then of children and family dynamics and lots of different subject areas,” Wollett told Leah Klett of The Christian Post. “I think if we all could dive into those a little more as the seasons go, I think it would be really cool, because viewers could see themselves in the characters, which I think is one of the most important and meaningful things about this show.”

Varvel hopes to see his character Andy mature if the show were to continue.

“Andy in season one, he’s a child, he’s a cartoon,” he said. “He’s a little boy in a big man’s body, and I think that I’d like to see him grow up over the next few seasons, and possibly even culminating in this moment of graduating from Captain to Chief.”

Meanwhile the Indiana native hopes to see a continuation of the “shenanigans” and “pranks” that add comic relief to the drama.

“I love the comedy aspect of the show, and I want to see that continue as well,” he added.

It is the faith element that sets RESCUE apart from other medical dramas, says Varvel.

“[W]e go into the interpersonal workings of this ensemble…What do you do when you’re trying to discover your purpose in life? … What do you do when tragedy strikes; how do you cope with that?” he told CBN’s Billy Hallowell. “Who do you lean on? All of those different types of questions we explore with the faith element, with the family element.”
