Social Media Ministry Shares How to Pray Scripture Over Your Kids

By Movieguide® Contributor

Social media and online ministry Risen Motherhood is sharing how parents can pray scripture over their kids to help them grow in Biblical truths.

They’ve created a prayer guide using Ephesians 3:16-17:

“Belt of Truth”

“Help my children stand firm in truth, even if everyone around them questions what is true. Provide courage to believe your Word today and to speak the truth to others in love.”

“Breastplate of Righteousness”

“Clothe my children with the perfection of Christ, so their sins can be forgiven. As they struggle, sin, and fall short today, remind them to confess their sin and find forgiveness in him. Would grace motivate them to right actions in each situation.”

The guide provides prayers for a whole wardrobe of protection, peace and uprightness. You can’t forget the shoes:

“Shoes of Gospel Peace”

“Make my children ready and eager to share the peace that Christ brings y his gospel. Would they see and act on opportunities in conversation today.

“Shield of Faith”

“When doubts arise in the minds of my children, give them the faith they need to believe what is true. Help them act on what they know about you, not just what they see or feel. “

This next prayer has insights taken from John 10:28:

“Helmet of Salvation”

“Help my children know how to be saved, receive that salvation, and give them assurance as they trust in Christ. When they doubt or feel scared and unsure, remind them that Jesus doesn’t lose any of his sheep.”

“Sword of Spirit – The Word of God”

“Give my children a love for your Word, even if it feels boring at times. Bring Scripture to mind in tough situations that come up today, so they can use it to fight temptation and know the right thing to do.”

Risen Motherhood also provides other guides, encouragement and resources, including a podcast that covers topics like making good choices, change, grief, working as a mom, prayer and more.

The ministry has published ten faith-based books, two of which are designed for kids. Others are about how to live out faith at home and through the whole journey of parenting, and another is about navigating the digital age as a parent.

Movieguide® recently reported how mom of three, Alexa PenaVega, sets an example of faith for her children:

“Obviously, we talk about stories of the Bible. That’s fun and exciting. But I think the biggest thing is, what does the relationship with God look like? Because there’s learning about the Bible, but then there’s real relationship,” PenaVega said.

“The best way I could teach them about faith was just operating in my faith in front of them,” she explained.

“I pray out loud all the time. I’ll be cooking, and they’ll hear mama talking to God. I will be cleaning, and they will hear me talking to God. And it’s really great because it’s gotten them to a place where they know they can go to God for absolutely anything and everything,” she continued.
