Netflix star Sofia Carson loves her latest role as Alex Rose in the streamer’s new original film THE LIFE LIST.
“One of the most beautiful scripts I had ever read,” Carson told Movieguide® of what drew her to the movie. “I think I had read 10 or 15 pages in, and I texted my team saying, ‘Whatever we have to do, I need to meet Adam Brooks as soon as he’s willing to meet me,’ and I just felt so connected to Alex Rose.”
“When her mother sends her on a quest to complete a teenage bucket list, a young woman uncovers family secrets, finds romance — and rediscovers herself,” a synopsis of the film reads.
“I just felt this longing to just protect her,” Carson continued, “and I don’t know, it’s something about Alex that just changed something in me, and I think that’s what she does when you watch this movie. Like she awakens you to life again in a way that you didn’t know you needed, and that’s what the script did to me when I read it.”
Movieguide® asked the PURPLE HEARTS star if there was a specific line or moment during filming that specifically resonated with her.
“There’s so many. This is going to sound perhaps not expected,” Sofia Carson said, “but in the very first scene of the movie when Alex is looking in the mirror and she says, ‘I think I’m going to change,’ that was a very significant moment for me and Adam because it was very telling of what the journey that she was going to go on.

She continued, “It was like her looking at herself in the mirror, looking back at her reflection, and choosing to change her life. Which is like so simple yet so beautiful, which I think is the heart of this movie.”
Carson shared with Entertainment Weekly that the movie inspired her to create her own “life list.”
“I think so many of us, including myself, tend to forget the little girl that was a fearless dreamer,” she said. “This movie took me back to her in so many ways. I left that set a different Sofia that I think little Sofia would be so deeply proud of. I’ve been writing my own ‘life list’ recently, and it was beautiful to see a few of the things that I dreamt of have come true.”
