SOUND OF FREEDOM Streaming on Amazon Prime

SOUND OF FREEDOM, 2023’s surprise blockbuster, is now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
Angel Studios first made the movie available to its Angel Guild members early in October. It became available to stream on Dec. 15.
“The Angel Guild selected and made SOUND OF FREEDOM so successful theatrically. They decide what projects are green-lit and are presented to audiences. We are honored to give them exclusive early access to this film prior to its wider release through the world’s leading digital platforms and retailers,” chief distribution officer at Angel Studios, Jared Geesey, stated.
The movie, which follows “a former government agent who puts his life on the line to rescue hundreds of children from sex trafficking,” stirred controversy.
Some claimed it embellished “the reality of child exploitation and stoking QAnon conspiracy theories,” Variety reported.
The Rolling Stone called SOUND OF FREEDOM a “QAnon-tinged thriller,” made to “appeal to the conscience of a conspiracy-addled boomer.”
However, audiences resonated with the story.
SOUND OF FREEDOM found massive and unexpected success after its summer release. The Hollywood Reporter notes that it raked in $244.3 million worldwide and was among the top 10 domestic earners of 2023.
Variety added, “Moviegoers were enthusiastic, bestowing the film an ‘A+’ CinemaScore and a 100% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have been mostly positive toward the movie, which has a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety chief film critic Owen Gleiberman called SOUND OF FREEDOM a ‘compelling movie that shines an authentic light on one of the crucial criminal horrors of our time, one that Hollywood has mostly shied away from.’”

SOUND OF FREEDOM follows the inspiring true story of Tim Ballard, a former government agent who puts his life on the line to rescue hundreds of children from sex trafficking. After an operation that saves a young boy from trafficking, Tim learns the boy’s sister has also been sold into the sex trade. At first, he continues to operate under Homeland Security, but when funds run out, he takes matters into his own hands. With the help of a small team, Tim launches an investigation to save the boy’s sister, save many other children and bring the perpetrators to justice.
SOUND OF FREEDOM is gripping and heartbreaking, but hope-giving. The movie sheds light on the need for strong people to stand up for God’s children around the world who are caught in the vicious, abusive system of sex trafficking.
