SPIRIT UNTAMED Actress Mckenna Grace Shares Major Surgery News
By Movieguide® Staff
Actress Mckenna Grace, known for GIFTED and SPIRIT UNTAMED, recently gave a health update to fans one-month after spinal surgery.
Grace expressed her gratitude to her spinal surgeon and opened up about her health struggles and the support of her family and friends.
“It’s been one month since my spine surgeon, Dr Skaggs at Cedars-Sinai literally changed my life,” Grace captioned a video on her Instagram. “Occasionally, life imitates art and the night my episode of Handmaid’s Tale where I was in a hospital bed came out, I was actually in a real hospital bed.”
“Social media only reflects what we want people to know-often we don’t see the ugly, hard, less-flattering sides of a person and their life,” she added. “For me, it’s been easier to hide my struggles and insecurities and maybe write about them in songs, but that didn’t fix them. I’m def going to elaborate more about all of this because my life and who I am and want to be was truly changed, but for now…I want to thank Dr Skaggs and his team, his PA Morgan, his nurse Elaine and my incredible team of nurses (who deserve their own post later), my Mom& Dad who never left my side and my friends who showed me that they are here in the exciting/fun times, but would also be there in the absolute lowest moment of my life.”
Grace previously starred in the family-friendly, animated movie, SPIRIT UNTAMED.
Movieguide® previously reported:
In the new family-friendly animated adventure, SPIRIT UNTAMED, a trio of friends named Lucky, Pru and Abigail must face the unknown together.
Stars Isabela Merced (Lucky), Marsai Martin (Pru) and Mckenna Grace (Abigail) sat down with Movieguide® to discuss how children can learn the themes of bravery, friendship and strength through SPIRIT UNTAMED.
A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:
SPIRIT UNTAMED is a satisfying, entertaining movie for the whole family, with a strong, uplifting moral worldview. The movie shows that we should love others and treat animals with respect and love. It also promotes responsibility and patience. Lucky and her friends are smart girls who are brave in any circumstance. These are honorable characteristics for young audiences to see. SPIRIT UNTAMED is a fine movie for all ages.
“I am very similar to Abigail as in she’s just very energetic and positive. And I mean, I’m sure that you can tell by my personality, I did not have to branch too far out to play her,” Grace told Movieguide®. “But I really did enjoy her positivity.”
Grace added: “I love how throughout the film, she’s always whipping out a ukulele, which is another thing that I love. I play ukulele all the time. It’s my favorite. But I just love how she’s constantly bringing up the other girls and trying to make light of even the scariest situations….”
