STARGIRL Moves to CW For Renewed Second Season

DC’s breakout television series STARGIRL starring Christian actress Brec Bassinger was renewed for a second season on the CW.
STARGIRL initially premiered in May 2020 as an original show on DC Universe, an online subscription service that encompasses all DC products. Last year, the CW acquired an exclusive linear window to air STARGIRL episodes a day after their DC Universe premiere. The series has performed exceptionally well in viewership for both the television and online networks. The show is currently in the middle of its first season.
DC’S STARGIRL is a 2020 sci-fi action drama about a teenage superhero inspiring a new generation of heroes. It is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It follows Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger), a tenth grade student who uncovers the fact that her stepfather is Cosmic Staff.
With her newfound abilities, she battles the Injustice Society of America while learning about her stepfather’s hero past. Together, they will reestablish the Justice Society of America and save the city.

As a TV-PG program, MOVIEGUIDE® recommends the show for teenage and adult audiences. The program contains frequent use of foul language, strong fantastical violence, an anti-capitalist motif, and astrological imagery (Courtney is connected with the stars). However, it also stresses a strong moral worldview concerning justice, a united family, and prudence. Nudity, sex, drug, and alcohol use are absent.
