By Movieguide® Contributor
During the 2025 NBA All-Star weekend, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry made an unusual but exciting announcement.
“A lot of debate, but there can only be one GOAT. #GOATmovie arrives February 2026. 🐐,” Curry wrote in the announcement he posted on Instagram along with a photo of the movie poster.
No plot for the animated project has been release yet, but Curry and Erick Peyton, his Unanimous Media partner, said in a joint statement, “We’re excited to have the opportunity to work with Sony Pictures Animation on GOAT, a special project we hope will resonate with families and sports fans alike. With GOAT, we look forward to uplifting audiences with diverse characters and heartwarming storylines that will have you rooting for the underdog.”
The project will be directed by Emmy-nominated director Tyree Dillihay while Adam Rosette will co-direct. Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley will write the screenplay. Rick Mischel and Fonda Snyder are executive producers, with David Schulenburg co-producing, according to Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Dillihay said, “As a lifelong fan of animation and sports, GOAT is my dream project. We’ve got a modern take on a classic story in a rich new world where amazing happens. I couldn’t ask for a better team of collaborators to help bring this experiential event to life.”
GOAT will be Curry’s third major motion picture he has produced. His other two include Netflix’s 2024 GOOD TIMES animated reboot and the Peacock comedy MR. THROWBACK, which he star in, Bleacher Report said.
