‘Story Of Hope’: Angel Studios Announces New Movie, SIGHT

Angel Studios announced the acquisition of SIGHT, the true story of Dr. Ming Wang, a Chinese immigrant who went on to become a renowned eye surgeon.

A synopsis of SIGHT on Angel Studios’ website says the movie “follows the true story of Dr. Ming Wang, a Chinese immigrant who defies all odds to become a world-renowned eye surgeon. Drawing upon the grit and determination he gained from a turbulent uprising in his upbringing, Dr. Wang sets out to restore the sight of a blind orphan.”

SIGHT stars Terry Chen as Dr. Wang, as well as Greg Kinnear, Fionnula Flanagan, Mia Swaminathan, Jayden Zhang and Ben Wang.

“Rarely have we seen the strength and resolve of Chinese-Americans shown in a powerful way on the big screen,” producer David Fischer said in a statement about SIGHT. “After spending years bringing SIGHT to life, Angel Studios is the perfect partner for audiences who want to be inspired by Dr. Wang’s story of hope, perseverance, and freedom.”

Jared Geesey, the Chief Distribution Officer of Angel Studios, added, “When the film SIGHT was brought to the Angel Guild, it received an incredible amount of support. Our audience resonates with true stories of everyday heroes. We are confident that this story will encourage all who experience it and help spur a movement to help others, and are honored to release the film during Asian Heritage Month.”

Angel Studios is giving audiences a sneak peek at their latest project, HOMESTEAD, a combination movie and TV show.

“I’m always a fan first when it comes to Angel films,” Jeffrey Harmon, the Co-Founder of Angel Studios, said in a statement about HOMESTEAD. “I’m excited to see a hope-filled, family apocalypse story hit the screens — because isn’t God always doing something incredible, even during tough times? HOMESTEAD goes on a wild ride through the crash of civilization, only to reveal that family, community and love are the ultimate survival advantage. I can’t wait to watch the movie and the TV show.”

The show and movie are based on the book series “Black Autumn” and stars Neal McDonough, Bailey Chase, Dawn Olivieri, Jesse Hutch, Kevin Lawson, Kearran Giovanni, Tyler Lofton, Susan Misner, Olivia Sanabia, Grace Powell and Caden Dragomer.

The HOMESTEAD movie is directed by Ben Smallbone, who previously worked on I STILL BELIEVE and STEVE MCQUEEN: AMERICAN ICON, while the show will be run by Jason Ross and Ben Kasica, who also worked on I STILL BELIEVE.
