Survival Expert Bear Grylls Celebrates Celebs ‘Running Wild’ on Nat Geo Show

For survivalist and Christian Bear Grylls there are parallels between perseverance in the extreme outdoors and the need for faith through the challenges faced in everyday life.
“The wild strips us all bare, doesn’t it?” Grylls said as reported by CBN. “It’s like a grape when you squeeze us, you see what we’re made of.”
On the new season of Nat Geo’s RUNNING WILD WITH BEAR GRYLLS: THE CHALLENGE celebrities such as Bradley Cooper, Russell Brand, Rita Ora, and Tatiana Maslany show what they’re “made of” as they spend one day learning as many survival skills from Grylls before they are on their own the next day.
Cooper from A STAR IS BORN and SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK battled the rugged Pathfinder Canyon in Wyoming where he crossed over a 100 foot ravine, climbed down a 400 foot cliff in one episode and slept on a portaledge hung on a cliff— a life changing opportunity according to the actor.
“By testing myself and pushing myself to a place of being uncomfortable every time…whether I failed at it or succeeded, I’ve just grown and become much more evolved as a human being,” Cooper told Good Morning America.
It’s that “testing” that draws Grylls to these sometimes death-defying adventures that carryover to the trials of everyday life.
“There is an element, I think, of faith when we’re put under fire or we’re scared or we’re grieving or we’re facing some illness or whatever, and in a way those are the times when the fluff gets blown away and the religious stuff gets blown away and the really important stuff, which is, ‘I’m beside you, I will help you, I will hold you,’ which is what the message of faith is,” Grylls told CBN.
The MAN VS. WILD star shared about his reconnection to his faith after losing his godfather as Movieguide ®️ reported:
“God, if you’re like you were when I used to know you, will you be that again? Comfort me,” he prayed at the time.
“My faith is about being held, comforted, forgiven, strengthened and loved. Faith in Christ has been the great empowering presence in my life, helping me walk strong when so often I feel weak,” he shared.
“If I had to sum up the secret of my survival in four words,” he wrote, “it would be a combination of heart, hope, doggedness and faith.”
