Tasha Layton Wants To ‘Bring Some Joy’ With New Christmas Album

Three songs from Tasha Layton’s new Christmas album have hit the Billboard Christian Airplay charts!
“Make It to Christmastime,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and “Hang Up Your Stockin’” are all tracks on her new album This Is Christmas.
“I wanted people to feel joy because I think when the weight of the world comes against us and against our fate, joy is one of the first things to go,” Layton said of her decision to record a Christmas album. “And so I wanted some worship on it, but I also wanted some fun songs on that, too, to bring some joy.”
In addition to giving people Christmas cheer with her music, Layton also shared that she wants to encourage her listeners to focus on giving to others.
“I do have a song on the record called ‘Giving Christmas Away,’” she explained. “And when you make that your focus of the holidays, whether it’s going and serving in a nursing home, or a soup kitchen or Operation Christmas Child or Angel Tree Project. … [and] trying to get you and your kids and your family in the spirit of giving rather than getting – I think that’s probably the best thing you could do. It really does fill you with such hope and faith when you give.”
She continued, “I get so excited about giving gifts, just because of what it represents. And so Jesus being the greatest gift we ever got, I feel like that’s the best way to sort of capture that spirit of Christmas.”
One of the tracks also contained a surprise reference to Christ.
“Somewhere in My Memory” was featured on the HOME ALONE soundtrack, and Layton pulled it for her album.
“We redid the song, and when we were searching for the original lyrics, it talks about Christ,” Layton said.
The original song included a verse that read “Christ the joy of our Christmas,” which Layton included in her cover of the track.
“We were so excited to find that as kind of like a little treasure of gold,” she shared. “It was a beautiful addition to the album.”

Award-winning Christian artist Tasha Layton recently teamed up with Raymond Arroyo for an all new Children’s book and rendition of the classic Christmas song, ‘We Three Kings.
The book written by Arroyo is called “The Wise Men Who Found Christmas,” which currently sits at the No. 2 spot for books on Amazon.
Layton, known for her hits like “Look What You’ve Done,” and “Into The Sea (It’s Gonna Be OK),” earned a Top 5 spot on Billboard’s top female Christian artists in 2020 and 2021.
Layton’s rendition of ‘We Three Kings’ has new lyrics and an original video inspired by the Children’s book. fresh lyrics inspired by “The Wise Men Who Found Christmas” and created an original video featuring animated illustrations from the book.
