Tennis Legend Pete Sampras Asks for Prayers Amid Wife’s Cancer Diagnosis

Former tennis pro Pete Sampras recently released a statement to the public asking for prayers for his wife, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, amid her fight with cancer.
“As most have come to know, I am a pretty quiet & private person,” Sampras began. “However, this past year has been an exceptionally challenging time for my family & I’ve decided to share what’s been going on.”
“Last December, my wife, Bridgette, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Since then, she’s had major surgery, pushed through chemotherapy & continues with targeted maintenance therapy. It’s hard to watch someone you love go through a challenge like this,” he continued.
“Seeing our boys step up & be such strong supporters of Bridgette, myself, & each other has been amazing,” Sampras wrote. “Watching Bridgette continue to be an incredible mom & wife through it all has been inspiring. I have also learned that it’s very hard to reach for support when something is simply too hard to talk about. With that said, I will end this by humbly asking for good thoughts & prayers for our family as Bridgette continues to thrive on her healing journey. Thank you.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, “Ovarian cancer is a growth of cells that forms in the ovaries. The cells multiply quickly and can invade and destroy healthy body tissue.”
Andy Murray, another tennis player, commented on the post and said, “All the best to your wife and your family, Pete.”
Sampras won 14 Grand Slam singles titles during his career, a record at the time of his retirement. His Grand Slam victories included seven Wimbledon titles, five US Open titles and two Australian Open titles.
Additionally, he held the ATP world No. 1 ranking in men’s singles tennis for a total of 286 weeks, which was a record at the time.
Bridgette is an actress who is best known for roles in BILLY MADISON, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, MORTAL KOMBAT and LAST ACTION HERO.
