Movieguide®’s press release for the event lists the nominees that champion 2022’s most uplifting, faith-filled, and moral content:
The Movieguide Awards announced the nominees for its 30th annual ceremony honoring the best of family-friendly movies and television programs and spiritually uplifting entertainment. The ceremony will take place on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood, California. Candace Cameron Bure, Lori Loughlin, Kate Flannery, Kathy Ireland and Bruce Davison are among the presenters. The telecast will air on UPtv on February 26, 2023.
Awards will be presented to the most inspirational projects in Hollywood released in 2022, honoring actors, directors, producers, studio executives, and others who made these projects a reality. “We are thrilled to celebrate inspirational movies, streaming, and television programs in person this year,” said Movieguide Founder and Publisher Dr. Ted Baehr.
“It’s so encouraging to see that families are continuing to vote with their dollars…they’re choosing to watch content that promotes forgiveness, self-sacrifice, teamwork, redemption, and more positive attributes” Baehr said.
“We are excited to be the television home of the Movieguide Awards this year,” said Charles Humbard, Founder and CEO, UP Entertainment. “The audience alignment is perfect with our uplifting entertainment brand. Ted Baehr has done a fantastic job helping keep Hollywood focused on what is important for families while making quality entertainment.”
Despite his success in mainstream media and television, Crews is not afraid to share his faith.
Movieguide® previously reported:
Crews, who hosted the 25th and 26th annual Moveiguide® Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry, previously told Moveiguide®’s Evy Baehr Carroll that his heart is to promote truth.
“It’s always about the message,” Crews said. “Because all art has a message. Everything that you would consider an artwork has a message to give. It’s very, very important to me that my message be the truth. You know what I mean? One thing I love about [the Movieguide® Awards] is it’s not just all family entertainment, it’s also about movies that are for mature audiences only. But, it’s really about telling the truth, the true message. The thing I hate is [when] you look at a script and say ‘It’s not real. This is not true.’ Or, either the bad guy wins in the end. That isn’t real.”
He continued, “The truth is: good wins. It does. Love wins. Despite all the suffering, all the bad things in the world, you have meaning. You have purpose. That’s the real message. No matter what you’re going through, it’s about overcoming bad things. That’s what a movie should be about. My thing is, when bad wins, what are you saying? What are you trying to do? I’ve never been a proponent of that kind of movie or storytelling basically.”
Crews’ comments reiterate multiple biblical truths, including Acts 17:26: “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.”
