CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans took the win on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

After the win, the leading quarterback made sure to praise Jesus Christ first.

“First and foremost, I want to give all glory and praise to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Stroud said. “I’m just very grateful for another season, you know. Being in the NFL was a long dream of mine.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Stroud’s faith:

Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud is opening up about why he wants to stop using profanity.

“I think about like how I was brought up, and that’s not how I was raised,” he said on Sports Spectrum’s podcast about when he noticed he was swearing. “And I don’t know where it started, but I know it needs to stop.”

“I was watching an interview that I was doing a couple days ago, and I’m like, ‘Man, like, why am I saying this or I’m saying that?’ Like, that’s not even me. I don’t know where, and then what he was saying is like, man sometimes like the issue isn’t necessarily the issue. It’s the emotion that comes with it,” Stroud explained.

“So, like when you get emotional about something, like when I get emotional about football, I’m just feeling the emotion that I get on the field,” he said. “I like start to play the game or feed into the profanity, you know? And I caught it. I’m like, ‘Hold on. This isn’t right.’ You know what I mean?”

“Stroud completed 24-of-32 passes for 234 yards with a pair of touchdown passes,” The Houston Texans reported. “Both those scoring strikes went to Stefon Diggs, and Stroud completed the day with a passer rating of 115.9. It was the second victory for Stroud at Lucas Oil Stadium in as many games. There was much to celebrate, but Stroud also had a critical eye on some areas for improvement.”

“We definitely did have a ton of great things, but we definitely have some things to work on,” Stroud told the Houston Texans media team. “But this is Week 1. Everybody’s rusty.”

Despite their rustiness, the quarterback is excited about what the Texans are capable of this season.

“If you can come out Week 1 and get a dub against a divisional opponent, it’s huge,” Stroud explained. “I think everybody played well on offense. We just got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and we’ll keep rolling. Man I think this offense is just getting started. So I’m very excited.”

Head coach DeMeco Ryans had much to say about his starting quarterback.

“He made a lot of good plays for us,” Ryans expressed. “He was pressured a lot, but he still moved around and made plays, escaped the pocket. The plays on the move were really exciting plays to see.”

He was also pleased with how well his team handled and controlled the ball.

“When it comes to the time of possession, I was really pleased with how we were able to control the game from that perspective,” Ryans said. “From holding the ball for 40 minutes is really indicative of running the football and playing physical upfront, controlling the football game, that is how you want to play. I was very proud of our offense to be able to do that.”
